Over the years, there has been a belief that when salt is added to water, the water boils faster as
compared to water that is pure. This theory has been passed down different generations but
whether it holds or not is a question that is being debated by different people and that is worth
researching in order to determine its validity. To those who believe that salt makes water boils
faster, they have been adding the salt to water with the intention of saving time and money for
fuel that is being used to boil the water.
This experiment is aimed at finding out the effect of adding small amounts of salt to the time that
the water takes to boil. This will help in the knowledge of saving time and energy consumed to
boil water because if it is true that salt makes water boil faster, then a small amount of salt could
be used even in homes for this purpose.
