Family Health Assessment
The involvement or partnership of healthcare professionals to patients as well as their
immediate families enhance the safety and the quality of health of the patient. Families play an
important role in uplifting and maintaining the wellness of the patients especially in their most
trying times (Mackie, 2017). The support of the family is very important in overcoming the
helplessness and the depressions that patients are going through. Moreover, the collaboration of
healthcare system to families in terms of care paved the way to the emphasis on the health care
plan. The family involvement in the care of the patient makes it easier for the nurses to gather
important information that can influence the health outcomes as well as the appropriate treatment
for the patient.
The use of the family health assessment is an effective method in the nursing practice in
identifying in the extent of the probability of developing the certain disease and at the same time
can promote the most effective health methods that can be applied in avoiding the disease
(Peterson-Burch, 2018). The collected information can help in preventing morbidity.
Furthermore, this can be used for creating a nursing care plan that will provide helpful
information to the patient about the disease, openly talk with the family members, be able to
collect more pertinent information in avoiding the disease, use the information in developing
healthier habits, and inform the family about the critical information.
