Synopsis
Globalization has brought several benefits, and one of them is that it had reduced
conflict and promoted peace between countries such as the US and China. I believe that
countries that have trade relations are more likely to have peace between them compared
to countries that do not have trade relations. This is because for trade to thrive, a
peaceful environment and cooperation are required. Therefore, even rival countries that
have economic ties are forced to compromise on certain issues for the sake of peace to
ensure that movement of resources between them is not interrupted. This argument has
merit because there is real life example to justify it, for example, the China-US
relationship. The two countries are rivals and sometimes disagree on geopolitics;
however due to their symbiotic economic relationship; they have remained rational and
maintained peace. Therefore, the connection between the US and China through
globalization has helped to maintain peace between them.

The US-China relationship
Introduction
The beauty of globalization is that it has freed people in different countries from
the tyranny of Geography, but it also has dire effects on certain economies1. The debate
on the effects of globalization on conflicts in the world has attracted a lot of opinions and
arguments. A group of people argues that globalization has reduced conflicts while
others hold a contradicting opinion. According to Liberals, nations that greatly depend
on global trade to build their economy are more peaceful compared to the countries that
do not depend on the global economy. On the other hand, two countries that trade with
others are likely to have peace-compared countries that do not have trade ties2. In this
paper, I assume that even though conflict is inevitable, it is something that countries
would like to avoid due to the multifaceted cost involved in it. Recently, China and the
United States engaged in talks over what can be termed as the trade war something that is
a big threat to economic globalization. The disputes between the two countries are about
tariffs besides certain underlying simple and complex economic issues. Despite
disagreements on certain issues, Globalization has increased the trade between China and
the U.S and this has prevented the eruption of serious conflicts between them.

1. Has globalization promoted peace between China and the United States?
To answer the above research question and support the thesis, the research took a
qualitative design, and I used document review as a method of data collection. I reviewed
various information sources such as books and peer-reviewed articles that are relevant to
the topic of study.
The bilateral relationship between the US and China
The relationship between the US and China is strong and positive, but there are times
when the relationship becomes complex. Both countries have an extensive economic
relationship, and a significant amount of trade between them requires somehow positive
political relationships; nevertheless, several issues still exist. The bilateral relationship
between China and the US is marked with economic cooperation, mutual suspicion, and
hegemonic rivalry in the Pacific but over...
