The goal is to get all the variables on one side, and all the constants on the other

Step 1: simplify both sides of the equation fully

8+6x=8+8x+7+3

Step 2: subtract 6x from both sides

8+6x=18+8x

8+6x-6x=18+8x-6x

8=18+2x

Step 3: Subtract 18 from both sides

8-18=18-18+2x

Step 4: Divide by 2 both sides

-10=2x

x=-5
