Week 4 - Interactive Assignment
No unread replies.No replies.
Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 4 (Friday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to
respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and
the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the
Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.
Project Status Reporting
Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the Weekly Lecture and Chapter 8 of
your text. It is now four months into your 12-month training project, and you need to
provide a status report to your stakeholders and your management team. Using the Project
Status Report Template , create a status report of your training project. From your WBS
and Gantt chart, include the milestones you’ve accomplished, the milestones that are
upcoming, and any issues that impact the project (e.g. scope creep issues or other execution
problems), as well as their statuses. You will prepare a slide presentation of your Project
Status Report to be created in Microsoft (MS) PowerPoint.
Create a five-slide PowerPoint presentation. Your slides must include the following
information:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Name of the project, the reporting period, and the overall project status.
Specific elements that affect the overall status.
The milestones accomplished for the reporting period and any explanations.
The milestones planned for the next reporting period and any pertinent details.
A screen capture of the Gantt chart for the current period.
Be sure to include speaker’s notes for each slide. They can be used as your script when you
give the presentation.
Narrate your PowerPoint slides using any presentation software like Screencast-o-matic or
Jing to create a video and upload it to YouTube. Attach the link to your video presentation,
your PowerPoint slides, and your Project Status Report to your initial post.
You are encouraged to post your presentation and required replies early during the week to
promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this discussion.
Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ status reports and presentations, and
respond to at least two of your peers. You are encouraged to post your required replies early
during the week to promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this discussion.
Assume you are one of the stakeholders to which the status report presentation is being
made. Provide feedback on the clarity of the information presented in the report and the
video presentation. Identify at least one element that your peer could include, change, or
discuss further in the presentation to improve the clarity of the status report for project
sponsors and/or stakeholders. Explain why you are recommending the improvements. Your
responses should be at least 200 words. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00
p.m. on Day 7, and respond with robust dialogue to anyone who replies to your initial post.

Running Head: WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT
1
Week 1 Assignment- WSM Lab Results and my Career Objectives
The decision made does not align with my career objectives, but there are some things
that I would have changed. First, commuting from MA to NY might not be a long journey, but
on a daily basis, it is some distance. In this case, I will have to reduce the weighted average
assigned to the trainer’s form location because I am willing to move to any state for a better
experience. Additionally, I would like to meet a firm with a higher experience with materials
which will increase my exposure, thus I will increase the weight given to the experience with
material consideration. In order to enhance growth and development, I will need a trainer who is
available, so I will also have to increase the weight given to trainer availability. Additionally, the
client reference is not very important to my career objectives, so I will reduce its weight.
In order to accomplish my career goal, the first most important goal is to have a trainer
who is available. This is because better training is enhanced through guidance. If a trainer is
hardly available, regardless of how close the training location is or how much resources the
training firm has, I will hardly obtain the desired career growth and development. The second
most important thing is the experience the firm has with the resources. It is important to be in a
firm that has experience with my career growth and development resources so they will be
training me from their experience, which will add value to my theoretical perspectives.
WSMs are very important in decision making because it considers all the relevant
requirements. Additionally, it does not give equal considerations. More weight is given to those
elements that matter most. In the selection of projects, organizations will need it because it can
prioritize on the most relevant projects, for instance, it can assist a firm in giving more funds or
attention to profitable projects at the expense of the less profitable projects. It can also consider
the value of the customer, for instance, it can require the firm to serve loyal customers first. It
will also consider the project time, forcing the firm to only pick projects it can complete within
the required timeline. Each element of consideration is weighted depending on its importance.
