The short story by Alice walker starts in a simple way through descriptions which propel
the story on and on. As the story proceed, it hits the reader with enormous literature and oratory
punches .it down that the story is not just idyllic as first thought. We are taken through known to
the unknown by the character as she moves along the forest. This form of movement by the
character is to open us to the theme of loss of innocence by the character. as Myop is moving
along the fort she is collecting some pretty flowers , which we may think she is still in her
innocence, but after she collects the pink cultured flowers and steps over the dead skull we are
meant to perceive that the skull does not only shutter but also her innocence is . As she looks
down and lies her flowers down as a sign of respect to the dead, however on looking back to the
skull and seeing what remain of the skull, the nose, her innocence is completely lost.
In her story Alice walker has exemplified his oratory expertise by making use of enough
literature tools to pass her message on the lost innocence of the character in the narration. She
