Description

This Assignment includes ten different pediatric cases that require further evaluation with a developmental testing tool. Selecting the correct tool is vitally important in getting accurate data that promotes early identification and intervention. A template is available to you as an Excel spreadsheet in Course Documents, and is specifically designed for this Assignment.

After you have selected the standardized developmental testing tool that is appropriate for each of the following cases, address the following:

  • Does the tool measure the domain(s) of concern?
  • Is the tool “age appropriate?”
  • Does the tool address cultural considerations?
  • Who is to administer the test?
  • Is the reliability and validity of the tool acceptable? How did you assess these measurements?
  • How much time is involved in using the tool?
  • Is the language of the tool applicable to the patient and family?

Paediatric Case 1
The case involves a two-month-old child who does not respond to loud noises and the test
selected to test the child’s hearing is the Otoacoustic emissions (OAE). This test, the Otoacoustic
emissions (OAE), is applied on the auditory nerve and the brain stem because this two areas
respond to the hearing and are responsible for belonging the child hear any noises within their
environment. However, the test is only used for infants aged two months or below two months,
and it has to be administered by the pediatric audiologist. The advantage of the tool/test picked
out is that it can be used on all children and it does not cause stress to the ear and is thus suitable
for the children the specified age. The primary way of knowing is when the test has been
effective is when an echo is heard by the doctor.
Paediatric Case 2
In the case, the child ages four months old has not shown the ability to followed
movements using its eyes. In his study of related conditions, Li (2016) identified the
electroencephalograph as the bets toll for the diagnosis of the issue with the infant. The purpose
of using the electroencephalograph is so that the tool can check the brain waves that are
electronic in their nature and activities and this process is accomplished by small electrodes
(Nadjmi, 2018). Based on the light energy the electric energy in the brain waves is them
measured, and the examination is subjected to children age four months and the test has no
culture addressed. The primary test of the tool is to measure the ability of the child to recognize
and have a stimuli response to light with the test taking about five minutes. One of the ways of

knowing it has been effective is when the patient is able to respond to light.Additionally, the test
comes in all language and is not restricted to English.
Paediatric Case 3
The case is concerning the six-month-year-old child who has not and does not reciprocate
the affection given to her by her care provider. According to Wong et al., the best tool for this
case would be the Early Childhood Inventory-4 (ECI4) tool. Early Childhood Inventory-4 (ECI4)
tool is appropriate for diagnosing the issue in children which is...
