Hi there! Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

You are probably missing some operations (where are exponents, additions, subtractions?)

Please write "^" to indicate exponentiation, and "+", "-", "*", "/" to indicate other operations.

Assuming you mean 12y^8 + 23 = 15y^(-23)+23 then subtracting 23 from both sides:

12y^8  = 15y^-23

Multiplying both sides by y^23, and dividing both sides by 12

y^(31) = 15/12

y =  (15/12)^(1/31)

Please let me know if you need any clarification. Always glad to help!
