Literary Analysis Essay
In a one page paper, you must present an organized and structured literary analysis of the passage using at least one of the literary theories.a. The purpose of the essay is to discuss the themes, issues, and/or symbolism that you view as significant within the text, as represented by this passage. In other words, your essay is a close reading and analysis of a particular passage, and your essay will analyze this passage. Your essay may cite other passages from the text, but it should focus on a detailed reading/analysis of the initial passage (you can see an example of this in the sample essay.b. In your analysis, you must state and refer to at least one literary theory and use it to analyze your passage.b. Your paper must be one page in length; therefore, you are permitted to manipulate the font style as well as the spacing and margins in order to maintain the one page length requirement.THESIS STATEMENT TIPS:Another common issue I see in the outlines is that thesis statements are not making a specific interpretative claim about the novel, something you will prove. That means that you should avoid statements about "people" but instead make a claim about the characters or symbols, etc, in this novel. Mention them! Just remember that your thesis must be debatable, that means it demands to be proven with textual evidence. Here are some additional things to remember as you start to draft your first essays:3) Your essay is a close reading of the passage on your cover page, so focus your argument on that passage. That is, make sure your essay uses the cover page quotation as supporting evidence in the paragraphs.3) The main point (YOUR THESIS) of your essay should be clearly stated at the end of your introduction. Many times, it is written in a much clearer way in the conclusion, so please compare these and review your thesis statement.4) Avoid writing using overgeneralized language; keep your analysis about the characters/text.5) Avoid writing summary. Only provide examples that you are analyzing to support your main claim.6) To see what we are looking for in terms of how to use a literary theory in your essay, please review the example essay.7) Avoid ending a paragraph with a quotation. Your paragraph should end with your commentary8) Use the “essay checklist” to review your writing.I already choose a passage 41-44. Please read it through and write an essay.
