A man is currently 26 years older than his son. Twelve years from the current time, the man will be twice as old as his son. What is the current age of the father?

I have the right answer in my book. I just don't know how to work the problem. It clearly states in my math book that the correct answer is 40. Did you mess up somewhere?

NO...JUST CHECK UP QUESTION AGAIN...IS THE QUESTION SAME? ...YOU YOURSELF CHECK...I AM RIGHT IN THIS QUESTION IF THE QUESTION IS RIGHT...IF THERE IS ANY OTHER QUERY, DO GET BACK TO ME..

wait....i made a little mistake

Sep 11th, 2015

Let Son age =S; Let Man age =M=S+26 .......(1)

M+12=2(S+12) .....(2)

Substitute value of M from equation (1) into equation(2), we hace;

S+26 +12=2S+24

2S-S=26-12

S=14

Thus Son's current age=12 years

Father's current age=14+26=40 years
