Many experiences and activities occurred in the United States from the late 1700s to
the mid-1800s which in political, social, and economic spheres that influenced the lives of the
Americans. America took a new form from the year 1789 and expanded as a Republic
country until 1840, and many significant occurrences occurred in the country within that the
time frame. One of the themes that happened in America from the late 1700s to the mid1800s is that of conflict, for example, the conflict between the Federalists and the
Republicans. The discussion will highlight the theme of conflict as it was exhibited in the
United States from the late 1700s to the mid-1800s.
One of the first conflicts that were experienced in America was between the farmers
and distillers and the federal government under President Washington in 1794 where the
former disagreed with the Whiskey Tax, which was enacted by the government (226). The
farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania staged a protest against the whiskey tax and
this rebellion build support for the Republicans. This conflict between Washington and
