an election involving 5 candidates and 30 voters is held and the results of the election are to be determined using the borda count method the maximum number of points a candidate can recieve is???

Since we are looking at the maximum number of points a candidate can receive, we simply find the max number of first place votes a candidate can get.

Each first place vote is worth N points (where N is the number of Candidates).

Well in this case, there are five candidates.

Therefore  N=5.

Let's say a candidate gets 30 first place votes (which there are only 30 voters, and thus the max number of first place votes possible)

Then you take 30 x 5= 150 points total.
