Class, This was a very good chapter for me to read. I feel I retained a lot of the information and was able to reflect onto my own life and behavior. As far as I can remember, I think I have always had a goal set in my mind, but I never had short-term goals in place to help me achieve my long-term goal. No wonder I never fulfilled my long-term goals in the past. Going forward, I will be focusing on one class at a time and making sure I pass. Having this focus is going to lead me to my long-term goal.
What I found extremely interesting is the process of stress within the autonomic nervous system. I thought back to many times that I suddenly had a thought in my head reminding me of a deadline and instantly freaking out. What was freaky is the exhaustion stage. I would have never thought stress lowers the immune system which could lead to an ulcer or even cancer! The body is so complex and this chapter made me realize how important it is to be able to adapt and cope to any stressful or frustrating situation.
