Marijuana has been a controversial topic over the years where a lot of people have argued
for and against it. Marijuana legalization remains a widely controversial issue in the USA as some
states move to legalize medical marijuana and others both medical and recreational marijuana. The
move towards legalizing the natural herb has received huge support from the public while the
regulators maintain their stand on not legalizing the drug. While most users support the
legalization, several other people are against its legalization as they fear the negative impacts that
are brought about by the drug. There are several reasons relating to the support for the legalization
of this drug. Marijuana has been said to have medical properties which have been the biggest
fighting points for its supporters. Scientific studies have indeed shown that Marijuana has
components of THC which can be used to help people suffering from stress as it reduces it. It has
also been seen to work effectively for people who experience recurring pains such as migraines as
well as people suffering from chronic pain such as cancer patients. While cancer patients cannot
find the best drugs without side effects to help them cope with their pain, they find marijuana to
be a magic herb as it has no side effects. Legalization of Marijuana has influenced culinary trends
in many ways. This has brought about issues regarding policy making which result from the
complex nature brought about by culinary products. It is important to explore the trend of
marijuana in the food industry to evaluate its impacts, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

The legalization of marijuana has brought many changes in the United States. While not
all states have allowed for the legalization of weed, those that have legalized weed have done it
on a medical basis or even both medical and recreational basis. Legalization of marijuana has
affected many sectors including culinary and the hospitality industry as a whole. The
consumption of marijuana has been traditionally known to be through smoking; the other way to
consume it is through ingestion (Gotlieb). This consumption process has brought about the
development of marijuana edibles. Marijuana edibles include whole meals, baked goods,
candies, gummies and chocolates among others. It is important therefore to evaluate the different
ways in which marijuana legalization has affected the culinary sector.
