umbilical vein is always present during fetal development. it carries oxygen and nutrients from the placenta to the fetus but later degenerates to form the round ligament of the liver. it drains into the inferior venacava

pulmonary vein is the vein that carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium. it is always present in adulthood.

both veins carry oxygenated blood
