The geometric design is concerned with relating the physical elements of the road/highway to the
requirements of the drivers and vehicles. In structural design, the structural strength of the
pavement is considered i.e. the subgrade strength (the road foundation) and the materials for the
pavement layers. Geometric Design is procedures for establishing the horizontal and vertical
alignments; the dimensions and slope of road/highway; cross-sections etc. The choice of speeds
depends on several factors which will control the speed on the road/highway. There are several
types of speeds which are named according to their use. Highway/Road Speed of Cold Spring
Lane Intersection is frequently the traffic stream journey speed or average speed for a traffic
stream over a section of a road/highway which is required
The elements of the geometric design include the following:
i. Horizontal Alignment which includes horizontal curves, transition curve and the super

The design should have bright colors with clear messages on the road signs and the standards for
