I believe that the best
intelligence-testing instrument available to psychologists today is still the Sternberg
Triarchic Abilities Test (STAT) of Robert J. Sternberg (Benson, 2003). This test
ascertains intelligence in multiple aspects and the exam is multiple choice
which is easy to handle by children with varying intelligences. Moreover,
initial testing of the STAT revealed that it has less ethnic bias, which solves
one of the problems identified for other widely used intelligence testing integuments
Nevertheless, I wish that this
test includes more aspects of intelligence aside from analytic, practical, and creative
aspects. This change will help psychologists and parents on how best to nurture
the intelligence of a child.
