Solve the system of linear equations

-x+y=2

x+y=-2

The goal is to solve for y for one of the equations, and substitute it in

-x+y=2

y=x+2

Substitute y=x+2 into the second equation

x+y=-2

x+(x+2)=-2

2x+2=-2

2x=-4

x=-2.

Substitute x=-2 into equation 1

-(-2)+y=2

2+y=2

y=0

Check your work

-(-2)+0=2 check

-2+0=-2 check!

Thus the answer is x=-2, and y=0, which is the same as (-2,0)
