Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Lets eliminate one equation

The first equation has a 6b and the second has a -6b. We add both equations to eliminate the b

6a+8b=-30

-6a+b=57

Adding gives

0 +9b=27

9b=27

b=27/9

b=3

Replace b in first equation with 3

6a +8b=-30

6a+8(3)=-30

6a +24=-30

6a=-30-24

6a=-54

a=-54/6

a=-9
