A boat is about to pass under a bridge, with its deck 15 m below the bridge. A spy standing on the bridge drops a secret message from rest when the boat is 25 m away from the drop point. How fast must the boat be moving for the message to reach the spy's contact on the deck?

h = 1/2gt^2

t = square root of 2h/g

t= square root of 2*15m/9.8m/s^2

t= 3.061 seconds

speed for message to reach the spy's contact is 

speed = distance / time

speed = 25/3.061 = 8.167m/s
