Research suggests that the relationships children have during early development are
precursors to the type of behavior they will have in the future. Effective childhood development
programs are therefore encouraged so as to groom children positively. Children are a product of
their environment and it is the duty of early childhood practitioners to ensure that there exist
successful relationships for children. With this in mind, a successful partnership between early
childhood staff and both the children and their families is important. A relationship with the
family is important as it is a platform for both parties to discuss different children's behaviors,
strength, personalities, and moods (Beyondblue, Early Childhood Australia, & Australian
Psychological Association, n.d.). Similarly, the relationships between the staff and the child’s
family is also an important lesson for children as to the importance of building healthy
relationships.
