This is a law of exponents problem. When an exponent is raised to an exponent, you multiply them.

So inside the parenthesis, c is technically raised to the 1 power  and d is technically raised to the 1 power.

So, 5 x 1=5

5 x 1=5

Therefore

c^(1 x 5) * d^(1 x 5)

= c^5 * d^5.

You cannot do anything else. There is also an identity

(a * b)^n=a^n * b^n.

Either way is a great way of thinking about it.
