This is a laws of exponents problem. When a power is raised by another power, you multiply them.

notice that 3^2 is raised by another power of 4.

So (3^2)^4

3^(2 x 4)

3^8.

Note that 3^8=6561.

You can always check your answer by doing (3^2) first and then raising that to the fourth power.

(3^2)^4

(9)^4=6561 (check!).
