Disaster preparedness has always been one of the critical areas in risk management in any
social environment. National and local governments dedicate a significant amount of resources
in the formulation and implementation of policies that would effectively help the societies

prepared different facilities are in regions across the world to deal with a surge in hospital
capacity in the event of a disaster. The facilities ought to be well equipped with human and
capital resources to ensure that they can meet the increased services demand for a significant
period before external players can begin offering assistance in helping those affected by the
disaster in question. This is especially important in cases involving mass casualties.
