Benefits and Shortcomings of Strict Immigration Laws
The subject of immigration has been in the center of the politics of the United States of
America for a very long time. As a matter of fact, during the presidential campaigns of President
Donald Trump, he and his Republican Party used the subject as a stepping stone to get to the
White House. The candidate attracted conservative Americans especially of the middle class and
the working class by promising them that he would ensure that the immigration laws become
stricter during his term. One of the most controversial promises was building a wall between the
U.S.A and Mexico to bar the people of the Central American country and others from the region
from entering the country in search for greener pastures as is usually the case (Basso & Peri,
2015). Since the entry of President Trump into power, he has also tried to make good of his
threats by signing several executive orders designed to limit entry into the United States and
received backlash and praise at almost equal measures. The reason why creating stricter
immigration policies has become harder is the fact that there are both advantages and
disadvantages of strict immigration rules and border security to the economy and the labor
market.
Background

the United States of America, it is important to have an understanding of the immigration laws
and the changes that have happened to the issue. One of the first and significantly impacting
immigration laws is the one that was enacted in 1952 by the Congress of the country. The
proposal was titled the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (Tienda & Sanchez, 2013). The
law was meant to enhance the segregate agenda of the time and white supremacy and therefore
restricted the entry of people into the country. It favored the entry of people from the west
