In this second discussion, you will reflect upon the significance of this issue from different perspectives.
Prior to completing this discussion, read the article titled The Importance of Advocacy and Advocacy Competencies in Human Service Professions (Links to an external site.) (pp. 5-16), this week’s Instructor Guidance, and watch the video segments from Films on Demand titled Role of Patient Advocate (Links to an external site.) (4:15) and Victim Advocacy Project (Links to an external site.) (3:58). The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) webpage on Advocacy (Links to an external site.) is also a helpful recommended reading for this assignment, as is the section on advocating in Chapter 24 of the text.
