Differential Reinforcement in its various forms is one of the most effective, widely known, and commonly used techniques to reduce problem behavior. Explain Differential Reinforcement and provide an example of how it can be used to reduce a problem behavior.
In Differential Reinforcement, a positive stimulus is provided when a positive behavior is present. The use of punishment is not required in order to discourage a negative behavior. It is possible to ignore the negative behavior, and stimulate the positive or desirable behavior in order to reduce a problem behavior.
