The History in Cocaine and Marijuana I chose cocaine and marijuana as my topic for the final, since marijuana has been legal in California last year, so many people use that. We even can smell that in the street, in campus or in community we live. This become what I interested in this class and I want to deepen more study about this. The first source I found is “Marijuana and the Law in California: A Historical and Political Overview” by Gordon S. Brownell. This article distributed by the timeline, between 1915-1972, marijuana was absolute not allowed in California, even has a marijuana cigarette would be caught in prison. In 1970, the law of Marijuana has been change, Although it keeps the original thoughts - Marijuana is drugs, nobody should use that, the term “Decriminalization” has been added on the law. There are no private adult use an infection. Between 1977-1980, the law has been changed by 6 enforcement, (1) No arrest for any marijuana user. (2) use small amount of marijuana cannot be in prison. (3) Furnishing small amount of marijuana be treated as own use. (4) own small amount of marijuana be treated small possions. (5) No lifelong criminal for marijuana. (6) Abolition of recidivist penalties for simple possession. This article talks about the history of marijuana in california, it helps me more understand about that. The second sources I found about the cocaine. This source is “Methamphetamine and Cocaine Use among Mexican Migrants in California: The California-Mexico Epidemiological Surveillance Pi”. This article talks The use of methamphetamine and cocaine is related to vulnerability HIV infection among men who have sex with men and men Who has sex with women, but is not specific among Mexican immigrants United States. California - Mexico Epidemiological Surveillance Pilot Is a site-oriented survey of Mexican male and female immigrants Living in rural and urban areas of California. Most of these people are separate, even temporarily From female partners and families. Therefore, interventions should include the elasticity of separation from partners and families. It is generally proposed to engage in high-risk behavior. Especially in community venues Through adult schools, churches and community groups, prevention programs Can solve methamphetamine / cocaine, alcohol test and addiction problems Overeating and harm reduction services. The film I searched is “Blow”, The film is based on a true story and tells the story of a US smuggling drug singer George Jung in the 1970s. Although a son of a construction worker, George Jung is not willing to be bound by a low birth. With great ideals, he came to California to chase his dreams. Soon, relying on the sale of marijuana, Jung earned some money, but it was also makes him on jail. In prison, Jung got acquainted with his prisoner friend, who introduced him to the drug lord Escobar. Soon, Jung became an important person for drug transportation in the United States, and relying on drug trafficking, Jung earned countless money, and he finally lived the life he had longed for. However, in the heart, Jung is deeply shameful about what he does, and no amount of money can fill the pain that is not understood and accepted by his loved ones. History of Marijuana

Thousands of years ago, Marijuana plant was majorly used as medicine and from the
reports, it is stated that it was mostly under usage by 500 B.C in Asia and was tracked back to the
Emperor of China Shen Nung in 2727 BC. Cannabis Sativa as it also called is widely used across
the different cultures including; the Muslims, Indians, Romans, Persians and the ancient Greeks.
In the earlier ages it was largely taken as a medicinal plant; in curing ailments like malaria,
depression, gout, inflammation, nausea; used as an anesthetic drug, it causes a reversible loss of
sensation or loss of consciousness and its possibly applied during surgery to prevent the patient
from feeling pain; also used to reduce desire for sex (McCoy, 2000). Among other cultures, they
used the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), one of the constituents of Marijuana, in religious events
or rituals. In late 1500, the Spanish most likely brought Marijuana in North America and the
nations earlier colonized by the United States also planted Marijuana and used this weed in
various applications such as; its fibers were used in the textile industries in making ropes, paper,
and other products. California was on the forefront in legalizing Cannabis Sativa through the
Compassionate Use Act of 1996 and it was officially used in the health sectors by patients
suffering from chronic diseases. By 2010, almost 16 states had legalized the medicinal use of
Cannabis. Later it was legalized in various states for recreational use. However, it was limited to
only be used by those above 21 years of age and business sales (McCoy, 2000). Different kinds
