Pediatrics is a wing of medicine that involves the provision of healthcare service to
infants, children, and adolescents. A healthcare provider who specializes in this branch of
medicine is known as a pediatrician. In this line, pediatric nursing is basically the medical care
of children up to adolescence (Rupert and Young, 2015). A pediatric nurse may either be a
direct nurse or a neonatal nurse. Direct nurses are adequately trained nurses who administer
procedures and medications to children by developing helpful communication channels with
the children which help them in identifying vital signs that call for medical attention. They
also provide support and education on nutrition and healthy living to the patient’s family
