given the following points (-6, -8), write the equation of the line passing through those points in the following forms:

2) point - slope

Oct 3rd, 2015

The point slope formula makes solving for equation of line easy

y-y1=m(x-x1)

Unfortunately, you did not put all the information to solve the problem. You would need to have been given the slope or another point.

To solve for slope:

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

Once you have a slope, you would simply just put in the point that you have indicated above.

Our point is (-6,-8), so

y1=-8

x1=-6.

Substitute y1 and x1 into the equation

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-(-8)=m(x-(-6))

y+8=m(x+6). <===Note: NOT FINAL ANSWER UNTIL YOU HAVE SLOPE! D:

If you want me to help you solve for slope, please put the rest of the problem, and I will be willing to help you! Otherwise, you use the above equation to solve for the slope
