# x^2 3x-10

what is the operator is between   x^2  and  3x

Sep 20th, 2015

oh the operator is a plus sign sorry i forgot

Sep 20th, 2015

you still there

Sep 20th, 2015

yes i am here i will give you the answer just wait :

you want i find the restricted domain of :

4x²/x²+3x-10

?????????????????????

Sep 20th, 2015

yes

Sep 20th, 2015

ok just wait

Sep 20th, 2015

k

Sep 20th, 2015

should the x²+3x-10 =/= 0

delta = 9 + 40 = 49 > 0

so :

x1 = (-3-7)/2 = -5

x2 = (-3+7)/2 = 2

so :

the domain is :

Df = ] -infinity , -5 [U] -5 , 2 [U] 2, +infinity [

if you don't understand something just ask

Good Luck

yehhh can you explain how you just did that

Sep 20th, 2015

we have :  f(x) = 4x²/x²+3x-10

if we want to find the domain of f should  x²+3x-10 =/= 0

and we find the two solution of  x²+3x-10 = 0   so :   (x + 5)(x - 2) =/= 0

so :   x =/= -5  or  x =/= 2

so :

for the function f(x)   will define must

x =/= 2,-5

so :

x c ] -infinity , -5 [U] -5 , 2 [U] 2, +infinity [

so :

Df = ] -infinity , -5 [U] -5 , 2 [U] 2, +infinity [  OR  Df = IR \ {-5,2}   OR  Df = IR - {-5,2}
