A for $90 a day plus $0.20 per mile

90 + 0.2 x

B charges $40 a day plus $0.70 per mile to rent the same truck

40 + 0.70 x


solve for x by equating two equations

90 + 0.2 x = 40 + 0.70 x

90 - 40 = 0.70 x - 0.20 x

  50  = 0.50 x

x= 100 miles


answer is

For company A to have a better deal, the truck must be driven  more than  ( 100  )  miles per day.
