ny rational number can be represented as p/q, with p and q both integers. Thus the product of two rational numbers is p/q * r/s, with p,q,r, and s integers. However, this is simply (pr)/(qs), and pr and qs are both products of integers and therefore integers themselves. Ergo, the product of two rational numbers can be represented as the quotient of two integers and is itself rational.
