How the Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010 changed the U.S. health care system
The Affordable Care Act has expanded insurance coverage and controlled the cost of
health care services. The act prohibits insurance companies from denying people medical
coverage due to preexisting conditions. It has also expanded Medicaid eligibility and has
subsidized insurance premiums so that many people can afford it. Further, insurance companies
cannot drop clients whenever they become ill (Sorrell, 2014). This act has improved health
outcome amongst people of different ages and economic status saving many lives since its
inception. The ethical issues presented by this change include the dilemma of assuming
responsibility for both the financing and provision of healthcare. This presents new ethical
