How Chattanooga used to be the Most Polluted City
Introduction
Located in southeastern Tennessee along the Tennessee River that borders Georgia,
Chattanooga is one of the two main cities in East Tennessee. The city of Chattanooga was
declared in 1969 by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) as the most polluted city in the
country (Johnson, 2017). The city was so polluted that it was difficult for its residents to drive
without turning on their headlights at midday. The city was a manufacturing hub with many
industrial activities that made it dirty and polluted to its core to the point that people started
migrating because they could not withstand the amount of pollution. However, Chattanooga
managed to change its pollution-ridden tag and is considered today as one of the green cities in
the United. As such, this speech is about how the city of Chattanooga used to be the most
