Running Head: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Mohammed Aloyuni Professor: Silvers MGMT302 17/02/2019 1 EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE 2 Emotional Intelligence EQ#1 My overall emotional intelligence score was 62, this indicates that I need to do something more to improve to become more emotionally intelligent. In average, I scored 65 in personal competence where the self-awareness clocked 72, while in self-management I recorded 57. In terms of social competence, averagely I scored 60 where social competence accounts for 54, whilst relationship management 65. At this point, my thoughts about EQ are that it has some truth in the sense that they seem to reflect what I think about myself. From the EQ performance, I think I deserved a 62 score for personal competence because my emotional intelligence is not strong. In most scenarios, I have had encounters where I lose myself and act ruthlessly. In addition, my thoughts about EQ are that it helps individuals realize their emotional awareness and self-management. In my observation, my test results inform me that my personal competence is not impressive. A 65 score means that I have some work to do to improve because this current score means that I cannot demonstrate emotionally intelligent behavior all the time. Also, I scored 60 in social competence implies that I am not working or dealing with others better. Essentially, I feel that I need to work on both personal competence and social competence and push it above a 70 score, that will make me more emotionally intelligent. I found it surprising that I scored 72 in self-awareness. I now feel a bit happier to learn that I am able to accurately perceive my emotion and aware of them when they happen. This is a good score and it has encouraged me to be sensitive when dealing with other people. Running Head: Q&A- EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Mohammed Aloyuni Professor: Silvers MGMT302 17/02/2019 1 EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE 2 Emotional Intelligence EQ#2 My EQ Journey Without a doubt, I need to work on personal competence and social competence to have an average score of over 70. In personal competence, I need to work on improving my selfmanagement because the 57 score worries me. A 57 score in self-management is a red flag to me because it may limit my effectiveness especially at this point when I am considering building my career. In the workplace, it is essential that I manage my emotional reactions in all situations to have a peaceful mind to work productively. Finally, I will also work on my social awareness because I feel that I need to understand other people so that I can know the best approach to relate to them. To improve social awareness, I am beginning to practice the art of listening. This strategy will boost my attention and sensitivity when speaking to other people. Catching the mood of the room is another strategy, which in my belief will help me understand the feeling of people in my social circle. For self-management, I will try to be calm, and control my emotions. With practising I have been listening to people. Nowadays, I am keener on my listening skills. I pay attention to people when they are speaking to me, and I try to avoid distraction. I am also striving to control my emotions to avoid confrontation with others. At this point, what is more, difficult is social awareness. It is not easy to understand how other people think or feel if they have not shared with you their experiences. However, I strive to improve my social awareness to understand the emotions of people I interact with. which " Group Three 1. How have your thoughts changed on EQ? 2.
