The establishment of native film productions globally has been viewed by a large number
of people as a peril to the effect of Hollywood on movies. This paper addresses the ideological
influence of Hollywood movies to the whole world and considers the Nigerian and India movie
industries. The chosen industries are prevalent in their continents and even some areas of the
world. The theoretical approach applied in this paper is cultural imperialism.
In some continent especially Africa, the ordinary people view any overseas movie that is
not Nigerian or Indian to be American. According to them, America has the best film industry
and produces the best videos that are worth watching. Aitken (2016) describes this as a way of
modernizing underdeveloped countries instead of generating self-sufficiency, quietly nurturing
