Description

You own a motel with 46 rooms and have a pricing structure that encourages rentals of rooms in groups. One room rents for $70, two rent for $67 each, and in general the group rate per room is found by taking $3 off the base of $70 for each extra room rented.

a) How much money do you take in if a family rents four rooms ?

b) Use a formula to give the rate you charge for each room if you rent n rooms to an organization.

Explanation & Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

a) How much money do you take in if a family rents four rooms ?

Since rate of 1 room is = 70
and rate of 2 rooms is = 67 each
similarly rate of 3 rooms = 67-3 = 64 each
and rate of 4 rooms = 64 - 3 = 61 each

so total cost of 4 rooms = 4*61 = $ 264

b) Use a formula to give the rate you charge for each room if you rent n rooms to an organization.

Rate of n rooms will be = [70 - (n-1)] = 69 - n
total charge of n rooms will be = n [69 - n] = 69n - n^2

Let me know incase you need any further help ! Thanks :)
