Equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are at the core of American democracy. What are some of the examples of how we exercise these core values, and what are some examples of these values being violated (by the government or any other group, media, or individuals)?
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
Equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the American democratic context are expressed in the following ways;
Government organizations are committed to bringing equality among the different social classes and races too. By ensuring that the marginalized ones access opportunities at lesser requirements, or rather giving them a favor, it helps them contribute equally to the states growth.
Without free and fair elections there is no democracy. therefore through allowing the American citizens to participate in elections freely, you give them happiness, liberty and equality in decision making.
Freedoms of worship, speech, and movement
All these freedoms are embedded in American constitution. these help in guaranteeing hope and happiness to all people irrespective of their political affiliations or their class as well.
Violations of these rights
These rights are violated in several ways. These include;
Failure by the courts to prosecute those involved in racial or social prejudice. This undermines liberty, equality and happiness too.
Federal laws that may limit the movement of people by demarcating legislative boundaries that use different laws. This makes people to fear visiting some regions due to the different law environment.
