Need help with week 6 assignment
Signature AssignmentObjectives:6.1InstructionsAssignment FilesGradingAbout Your Signature AssignmentThis signature assignment is designed to align with specific program student learning outcome(s) in your program. Program Student Learning Outcomes are broad statements that describe what students should know and be able to do upon completion of their degree. The signature assignments may be graded with an automated rubric that allows the University to collect data that can be aggregated across a location or college/school and used for program improvements. Purpose of Assignment The purpose of this assignment is for students to demonstrate mastery of operations management concepts and tools. Assignment Steps Develop a 700- to 1,050-word memo to a prospective employer outlining your credentials, including: taking this class, all of the projects you have done for this class individually and with your team, and their impact on the businesses you have engaged with so a senior manager reading it would want to hire you as either an operations consultant or permanent employee. Summarize the business case for each project. Outline what you specifically accomplished, assuming these projects were implemented, and their estimated impacts on the business. Utilize the learnings from Week 6 to highlight your skills in global sourcing, procurement, and outsourcing which can also be of benefit to your target firm. Format your assignment as if you would be giving a presentation to senior management.

See my response below and locate an example focusing on the bolded information.Transfer of learning or transfer of knowledge or transfer refers to learning in one context and applying it to another, i.e. the capacity to apply acquired knowledge and skills to new situations. ... The issue of transfer of learning is a central issue in both education and learning psychology. The U.S. Department of Justice reports that one in every ten bankruptcy filings has an element of fraud associated with it.For example, in 2009, Joe and Teresa Guidice famous for starring in the reality show “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” filed for bankruptcy claiming that they were in debt for approximately $11 million. The bankruptcy led to federal charges held against them which led to them being charged with a 39-count indictment for hiding assets. The Guidices failed to disclose information related to their businesses, rental properties and Teresa’s salary for the “Real Housewives” franchise. Teresa was ultimately sentenced to 15 months in a federal prison while her husband Joe was sentenced to 41 months. In another case, Steven Zinnel, was sentenced to 212 months in prison and fined $500,000 for bankruptcy fraud. Zinnel hid assets using a shell company he had invested in as a silent partner. The company paid distributions to Zinnel for many years, but he never disclosed the shell company or the payments he received. He kept this scheme going until he was caught by bankruptcy officials. These and many more cases are examples that show how bankruptcy fraud can be committed.

Critical thinking
You have just landed an accounting position with a national telecommunications company. Because this is your first job you are eager to please your co workers and your supervisor who works closely with the controller. However, your supervisor has just paid you a visit. She told you that the controller is concerned that profits for the last fiscal year are much less than profits in the preceding five years. The controller has asked that depreciation on a machine purchased at the beginning of last year be recalculated. The machine has a five year useful life and is depreciated using the straight line method. The controller has asked that the machine be depreciated over a ten year useful life. Your supervisor contends that the depreciation thing really doesn t matter because the machine has already been paid for. In addition, your supervisor gives you an adjusting journal entry to correct what she calls expense transfers . This entry transfers items originally recorded as repairs and maintenance to capital assets.1. Do you agree with the supervisor regarding the change in the estimated useful life of the machine? Why or why not?2. Are you going to recalculate the depreciation and change the entry? Why or why not?3. What is the proper accounting treatment for: (1) repairs and maintenance and (2) plant assets?4. What is your supervisor trying to accomplish with the suggested expense transfers entry? What would be your course of action regarding the suggested entry?
