First write out the polynomial, leaving gaps as required

6x^3  -5x

9x^3  +8x   +2

Then change the signs in the second part of the polynomial to ensure that the –ve sign outside the bracket is catered for, and then add.

6x^3  -5x

-9x^3  -8x   -2

-3x^3  -13x  -2

So the answer is

-3x^3-13x-2
