Introduction
Organizational culture refers to the underlying beliefs, values, assumptions as well as
manners of interaction contributing to the unique organizational social and psychological
environment. Organizational culture is encompassed of the expectations of the organization, its
philosophy, experiences, and values that hold it together and its expression are through
interactions with the external factors, inner workings, future expectations, and self-image.
Company culture is founded on shared beliefs, attitudes, customs, written and unwritten rules
that over time have been developed and considered valid. That being said, organizational culture
is double sided owing to the fact that it has the ability to influence some factors in the
organization and at the same time it can equally be influenced. Workplace outcomes and group
productivity are some of the key factors that are largely influenced by organizational culture
while on the other hand, social culture and diversity of individuals are key influencers of the
greater organizational culture. Organizational assessment tools are thus important in the
assessment of the organizational culture because they help in the identification of cultural gaps
within the group.
