Math 160 CC American Chiropractic Association Discussion
Learn by DoingHere are the directions, grading rubric, and definition of high-quality feedback for the Learn by Doing discussion board exercises. ContextStudents researching backpack weights gathered data from 45 elementary school children in the 3rd and 5th grades. The variable is “percent of body weight carried in the school backpack.” So a child who weighs 60 pounds and carries 9 pounds has a variable value of 15% (9 ÷ 60 = 0.15 = 15%). The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) recommends that children carry no more than 10% of their body weight.PromptWhen we analyze backpack weight as a percentage of body weight, how do 3rd and 5th graders compare? Are children in this study following the ACA recommendation?% of body weight carried in backpackThirdgradersFifthgraders 0-5%11 5-10%66 10-15%114 15-20%37 20-25%01 25-30%02 30-35%01Totals2122Note: Left-hand end-points are included in each bin. So the 2nd bin contains students carrying 5% of their body weight.

Multiple Regression, statistics assignment help
Multiple RegressionAs with the previous week’s Discussion, this Discussion assists in solidifying your understanding of statistical testing by engaging in some data analysis. This week you will once again work with a real, secondary dataset to construct a research question, estimate a multiple regression model, and interpret the results.Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will post your response to the hypothesis test, along with the results. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another. To prepare for this Discussion:Review this week’s Learning Resources and media program related to multiple regression.Create a research question using the General Social Survey that can be answered by multiple regression.By Day 3Use SPSS to answer the research question. Post your response to the following:What is your research question? What is the null hypothesis for your question? What research design would align with this question? What dependent variable was used and how is it measured? What independent variable is used and how is it measured? What other variables were added to the multiple regression models as controls? What is the justification for adding the variables? If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect?Explain your results for a lay audience, explain what the answer to your research question.Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style. As with the previous week’s Discussion, this Discussion assists in solidifying your understanding of statistical testing by engaging in some data analysis. COLLAPSEFor an overview of multiple regression, you might want to take a look at Dr.Kathyrne's Practical Guide to multiple regression. I've attached it here and I'll also try to remember to put it in the doc sharing area.Remember that the type of multiple regression we are learning this week is linear multiple regression (sometimes also called OLS linear regression) -- it is an extension of the simple linear regression that we learned last week. That means that it is designed for variables measured at the interval/ratio level. We can get away with one dichotomous predictor variable, but more than that and we get into trouble. Just like last week, we can think of the hypotheses in two ways -- as comparing beta values or as comparing R2 values to 0.Remember to keep "collinearity" (sometimes called multicollinearity) in mind when designing your study. Avoid collinearity -- it creates big problems. We'll learn more about collinearity next week.Be sure to carefully review the weekly announcement -- I've given an example there of how to present the results.

De La Salle College The Relationship Between Nutrition and Weight Report
In public health, data are often gathered from separate groups in order to describe health-related behavior for a topic of interest. In practice, a larger sample is often surveyed, and then focus groups or interviews can be conducted with a smaller subset of the sample. The quantitative survey data from a larger group helps to identify health-related trends and patterns within the sample group. The qualitative data collected with the smaller group complements the quantitative survey data and helps to determine why and how a phenomenon exists. The cumulative findings can then help public health professionals form a conclusion about the health issue and inform future public health research, policy, and practice. The purpose of this assignment is to analyze qualitative and quantitative data from two separate groups, propose a research question, and then disseminate your findings in a mixed-methods manuscript. The survey and focus group are both on the topic of nutrition. The quantitative data is adapted from the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS), and the qualitative data is from a focus group transcript in which 9th grade girls discussed healthy eating. For this assignment, you will use:IBM SPSS Statistics and the "Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System Dataset" to conduct a basic quantitative statistical analysis. The "9th Grade Girls Healthy Food Focus Group Transcription" to conduct a qualitative analysis and identify key themes.Part 1: Analyzing DataUsing the resources indicated above, conduct the following analyses and record the results on the "Results and Outputs" template. Attach this document as an Appendix in your paper.Qualitative Analysis: Read the "9th Grade Girls Healthy Food Focus Group Transcription." This transcript is from a focus group of 9th grade girls discussing healthy eating with the moderator. Generate codes and summarize the qualitative data.Quantitative Analysis:Review the "Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System Dataset." Identify two or three variables of interest and identify a study topic for your paper. Conduct a literature search for three to five peer-reviewed articles from the last 5 years that have studies supporting your topic. Develop a research question for your study based on the selected variables. The research question should demonstrate support for the focus group results and should be supported by existing literature.Prepare the data to complete the analysis based on your research question.Using SPSS, conduct descriptive statistics to summarize the sample.Using SPSS, select an appropriate quantitative inferential statistical test to analyze the data.Part 2: Reporting DataPrepare a 1,250-1,500 word manuscript to disseminate the findings of your proposed study. The study should be based on your proposed research question and supported by the findings from the qualitative and quantitative analyses above, as well as by current literature. Include the following:AbstractA 150-250 word summary of the manuscript.IntroductionSummarize the purpose of the research, the problem being addressed, and your proposed research question.Support your summary using three to five peer-reviewed articles from the last 5 years that are relevant to your topic and that support why the study is being conducted.MethodsQualitative Methods (Focus Group)Describe the focus group sample and data collection process.Describe the process used to analyze the qualitative data.Quantitative Methods (YRBSS Survey)Discuss how the data were collected.Identify and describe the variables used in the analysis.Describe the descriptive and inferential statistical tests that were conducted.Identify the software that was used to conduct the analysis.ResultsQualitative Results (Focus Group)Summarize the results of the qualitative analysis from the "9th Grade Girls Healthy Food Focus Group Transcription."Quantitative Results (YRBSS Survey)Summarize the sample using the results of the descriptive statistics.Describe the main outcomes of the inferential statistical analysis.Include at least one table or figure to support the results.DiscussionInterpret the study results in relation to the related literature and study purpose.Discuss the study limitations.Based on the interpreted results of the study, provide recommendations for future public health research, policy, or practice.Appendix"Results and Outputs" analysis document.General RequirementsYou are required to cite to a minimum of three sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and public health content.Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. This assignment uses a rubric.
