Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

x^2+13x+42

X=-6

X=-7

What I did was an algebraic system called FOIL ( First Outer Inner Last) I multiplied out the two polynomials and came up with a "simplified" one. Then solved for the two X  values.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

What is it simplified?

That is it simplified, the factored out form is the form they gave to you, and what they want is to see that you can multiply out that polynomial and combine like terms. That is it simplified. This is what they would consider simplified.

the full out multiplication gives:

x^2+6x+7x+42

I simplified by combining like terms to get:

x^2+13x+42

Then found the values of "x" being

x=-6 & x=-7
