            Test the hypothesis that those genes are assorting independently using a chi-square test. Explain tentatively any deviation from expected values, and tell how you would test your explanation.

CV: 7.81 df=3

computation of  test stat:  Chi-square = (122-100)^2/100+ (118-100)^2/100  +(81-100)^2/100 + (79-100)^2/100=16.10

Reject Ho since computed Chi-square > 7.811

Conclusion: there is enough evidence that genes are not assorting independently
