1. Health Department in Vanderburgh County
The understanding of the values of the health department was an enjoyable section for
me. Understanding what an organization value is a major step in understanding their motive with
the customer base they sever. For the health department at Vanderburgh, their values include
integrity, prevention, and promotion, customer and community focus alongside other values that
depict the organization's intentions with their community of interest. The department can be tied
to the purpose of generally advocating for the best state of health in their community of
concentration due to a value such as continuous quality improvement. A value such as integrity
when promoted in a health organization enables the delivery of healthcare services without
having to face challenges such as those of preference such as nepotism or racism. This also
eliminates corruption that includes the issuance of money for the purpose of receiving healthcare
services. Customer and community focus also enables individuals commissioned with the
delivery of healthcare services to prioritize their duties and go extra miles to ensure the
maintenance of health within the society.
The department is notable in society due to the various services it offers that enable it to
achieve its mission in healthcare delivery. Some of the interactions that I have noted in society is
lead testing and creation of such components in water systems. The department also has notable
efforts in championing food safety. This is in an attempt to promote health through healthy
eating. The department has also been notable in the organizations for its lab ventures such as
STD testing which familiarizes it to many individuals.
I also enjoyed learning about various facts about the organization. This includes
information on the establishment of the department. The fact that the department was established
in the year 1947 an is still relevant up to date shows that it is efficient in the delivery of

healthcare services to the community it serves and that it has been able to adapt over the years to
meet the ever-changing needs of health in the society. The department is also the largest
department in the whole of District 10. Another aspect I enjoyed learning about is the budget at
which the department operates. The organization utilizes a budget of 3 billion dollars per fiscal
year. This shows the emphasis on the provision of quality services and medical products such as
medicinal drugs. This is also responsible for the equipment of the organization with the best
material to deliver healthcare services.
