Preventive law as used in social work means laws that were used to prevent certain things or conditions in the society. For instance, the society had some laws which were used to prevent the neglect of children or simply child abuse. Some strategies employed in this case may include counseling or empowering of your clients as a social worker. In reality, preventive law can be said to increase the legal decision making chances in the society while in the same time limiting the chances of recourse to court proceedings. Thus, preventive law can be generally said to be a preventive mechanism in different situations.
