Is communication an essential mean of sending and receiving information? Certainly yes.
People and other living creatures will require to exchange and impart knowledge using writing
and speaking. Communication, therefore, needs that there is the sender who is the person
releasing the information, the medium which is the channel through which information passes to
the receiver who is the person that receives the intended information.
Firstly, being assertive has helped me to stand up for myself as a student. In most of my
endeavors and daily communications, I am confident and self-assured of whatever I do and say.
This has built trust with my peers who have accorded me the responsibility of serving them as
their student academic secretary of the student’s union (Oetzel, 2017). I have been able to
maintain the integrity and not involve myself in dubious actions like stealing of exams and
corruption because I am confident and self-assured; hence assertiveness has been likely for me in
academics and leadership goals.
Apart from being confident and self-assured, being determined and being forceful at
times has built my leadership career as a student. Being aggressive calls for determination and
forcing situations and relationships at times (McNair, 2018). Leadership is challenging, and both
the students and the administration confront each other at times. Being aggressive as a student
