Alabama State Department of Education has passed and mandated the teaching of evolution in all public schools. Many states have mandated the teaching of evolution in schools for many years. A large number of science teachers within the state have taught evolution in one form or another. What are your thoughts, experiences, comments?

Given the current scientific evidence for evolutionary theory, I think that it is a good idea to teach evolution in public schools. Some of the overwhelming scientific evidence includes evidence for the evolution of new species, (specification) [1]. Evolution is also backed up,  and can be simulated by population genetics. Given that religious arguments, may be predominantly Creationist, teaching evolution would help the next generation be aware of the current state of the art in scientific theories, and balance the cultural background given by the some of the currently predominant religious  arguments.
