Some of the major indicators of child and adolescents health status can be easily
identified just by watching their behavior. Good health involves having physical, mental and
social. Some of the major indicators that show that a child or an adolescent is not healthy
include:

Physical attributes – For some diseases, the appearance of a child will show that they are
suffering from a disease. Some of the symptoms include: excessive weight loss and a
wrinkled skin, sunken eyes, general body weakness, skin rashes, vomiting, diarrhea,
jaundice and breathing problems.

Mental attributes – A sick child or adolescent will have signs like; constant crying,
frequent headaches, sudden emotional outbursts, insomnia and hallucinations

Social attributes of a sick child or adolescent include: a withdrawn attitude where the
child doesn’t want to play, distraction, constant mood changes and quick lack of interest
in certain activities (A. Sullivan & Hogan, 1998).
